Freeride in Romania, how about that? I have no idea how much you know about Romania but I am telling you that it is a very good place for free skiing.
We, Pure Romania team, have a great passion about skiing. This is the reason why we thought to promote a few packages for freeride lovers.
These tours can be customized. Down below we present you a few freeride places, places where we want you to join us in freeriding. In this way you can analyze the area and decide if Romania is good for you or not. Besides skiing we promise you a lot of good mood, tasty organic food, strong traditional drinks, happy and beautiful people and traditional Romania with its villages and stories.
Balea Lac, National Freeride Championship
Freeride at Balea Lake – Freeride in Romania – “Pure freedom”
It is the best place for freeride. We will climb by cable car, but also on foot. This is the place where is held the freeride national championship. This championship brings important points for those who want to participate to Freeride World Tour. The place is amazing. It has impressed all the riders who came here from the whole world to get points for Freeride World Tour. In order to get to a height of 2400 meters you have to climb on foot because the cable car stops at a height of 2000 meters. This combination of climbing on foot, beautiful landscape, rocky area and glacial circular valley turns this place into a very rare one in Europe. Here are also some narrow (2 meters) and long (over 200 meters) valleys on which you can descent on skis. The movie below shows very well this fact.

Freeride in Sinaia – Freeride in Romania – “Pure freedom”
Sinaia is the most accessible place. Here you have a lot of options for freeriding. The only problem is that there are a lot of skiers too. The powder days are hunted down by everyone so if you are not in the ski resort very early all you can get is chopped powder. We like here a lot because we can do everything, it is very close to Bucharest and the risk of avalanche is considerably smaller than in other places.
Spring rides on valleys – Freeride in Romania – “Pure freedom”
Since March we go out on valleys, generally in Bucegi Mountains. We climb to 2500 meters and descend to 1500 meters. Then we walk through the already green forests. These are ones of the most beautiful rides because you can enjoy the snow, sun, green forests and spring warmth. It is like you live four seasons in one day. There are areas where you can descend on rope or free among the rocks. You can ski on the valleys from Bucegi till early June depending on the amount of snow that falls during winter.

RED BULL OSLEA HIRIDE – Freeride in Romania – “Pure freedom”
This is an event that takes place for a few years in Romania. It is another occasion to find people passionate of mountain and freeride. The atmosphere is very nice. The event gathers almost the whole community of passionate people. It is usually organized at the end of February. You can ski from a height of 2000 meters on areas with untouched snow. Here in Retezat Mountains the areas are incredibly beautiful. You can find more details on the page specially dedicated to this event.
