Foreign tourists attracted by Romania
WTTC (World Travel & Tourism Council) has published the Travel & Tourism Economic impact for Romania for 2013. The document highlights the great potential that Romania has regarding tourism development. In 2013, Romania is expected to attract 6,452,000 international tourist arrivals. By 2023, international tourist arrivals are forecasted to a total of 12,068,000, generating an expenditure of RON 15.1bn, with an increase of 6.0% pa. In 2012, Romania generated RON 7.4bn in visitor exports.
Tourism investments and contribution to GDP
Romania is ranked 5th in the world regarding Travel & Tourism’s Direct Contribution to GDP. The expected growth rate is 10.6%, while the worldwide average is 3.0%. Travel & Tourism is expected to have attracted capital investment of RON 12.8bn in 2012. This is expected to decrease by 0.2% in 2013, and rise by 6.8% pa over the next ten years to RON 24.5bn in 2023. Travel & Tourism’s share of total national investment will rise from 7.4% in 2013 to 7.7% in 2023. All the information is provided by WTTC (World Travel & Tourism Council).
